What is a Strata Extraordinary General Meeting?
Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) are also known as General Meetings and they can be held as and when they are needed.
EGMs usually discuss specific agenda items that need agreement from owners and cannot wait until the next AGM, such as major repairs or to deal with an owner’s renovation application.
There are two ways to arrange an extraordinary general meeting:
- Either the secretary or strata committee can call one.
- Owners who are entitled to vote and who together hold at least a quarter of the total unit entitlements can also ask for an EGM.
To arrange an EGM, the owners must write to the secretary and tell all owners and tenants at least seven days before the meeting.
